| 3.2.1 Questions and Options
A question set consists of some global options, a set of questions and any answer options for the questions (what to put in the drop down list for example).
You can view the set management menu in simple or complex mode. Complex is the default and will display the answer options for each question and some other information. Simple just lists the questions.
Questions can be created, edited, deleted and copied from the set management menu. The options for a question depend on the question type. ViQ supports 5 types of question as follows:
Line of Text Input - the respondent is prompted to enter a line of text (which they can leave blank). You can specify a "size" which will be used as the maximum number of characters to be input (the limit is 128 and specifying any more won't work).
Free Text Entry - a text entry box where the respondent can choose to enter data or not. The limit for this sets the number of lines displayed in the text box though the actual length of input is not limited.
Drop-down List Box - The respondent is given a drop-down box and must select one of the answer options you have specified. The top answer option is selected by default. The limit value has no effect.
Group of Checkboxes - The respondent is presented with a checkbox next to each answer option you specified for the question. None are selected by default and the respondent may tick any number of none of them. The limit value has no effect.
Group of Radio Buttons - The respondent is presented with a radio checkbox for each answer option you have specified. They must select one and the top answer option is selected by default. These are presented in rows of 5 columns each to the respondent. The limit value has no effect.
Each question can have a "Question Header" above it which will be displayed as an underlined title. These are best used on the first question for each section as section titles. The "Question Notes" are displayed in italics after the question and options.
Question types which have answer options (non-text input) allow you to edit the answer options for the question. If you have created options for a question and then change the question to a text type your options are not deleted and are automatically shown again if you revert to another type.
